First Light
This is the first, from what I expect to be many, photos of the view from my Aparment looking East. I must admit its great watching the sun rise over the horizon in the comfort of my home… Read More
Fresh Outting
Once again its been quite awhile since I got out and photographed anything nature inspired. But luckily before work today I woke up well before the sunrise and headed to the Greenbelt Plateau trail in Boulder County. It was a biting 15F deg outside this morning but the relatively clear skies, deep snow, and setting moon made for a memorable experience.… Read More
Amazing Light
It’s never easy returning to work after a vacation but at least we were treated with an amazing sunrise today! At first I didn’t plan on taking photos but as I headed out the door the conditions were ripe for a great sunrise. With time being short I ventured to one of my favorite sunrise locations along Plainview Rd. The conditions were relatively mild, considering it’s January, with the biggest problem being the super strong winds.… Read More
Table Mountain
My friends and I decided to take advantage of the holiday, not to mention fantastic weather, by going for a hike at North Table Mountain park. I only took one photo but the fresh air and warm temperatures made for a great outting!

Warm Breeze
Having made it through another week of work, I decided to take it easy this morning and take a few photos South of Boulder. The dense cloud cover out East blocked any chance of having a brilliant sunrise. But even so, the morning was beautiful and in many ways rather warm considering the last few days.… Read More
Friday
Friday has arrived and its shaping up to be a wonderful warm Autumn day. I started out the day at Plainview Road in Jefferson County and witnessed a beautiful sunrise. Even with all the melting over the past few days there was still quite a bit of the white stuff this morning.… Read More
Cold Day
As the first major snowstorm cleared out last night it left a hefty dumping of snow and extremely frigid temperatures this morning. Hoping to capture the fresh snow I awoke earlier than normal and ventured out. The temperature in my Jeep read 16F and with stiff wind from the West it felt more like in the single temperatures. The first place I stopped was the overlook near the intersection of Indiana and Hwy 128. I spent about 20 minutes admiring… Read More
First Snow
The first major snowstorm of the season hit late last night and early today. Having the urge to capture the fresh snow I brought along my camera gear today with the hopes of taking some photos. With a rather light workload today I decided to leave work early and head down towards Eldorado Canyon State Park. As I arrived at the park the snow was still flying and was already at a depth of around 11inches. The heavy wet snow made… Read More
Fleeting Warmth
After spending the majority of this weekend inside editing photos, I was happy today to have time with my Father and go photographing. We decided to visit the open space along Clear Creek in Wheat Ridge, CO and arrived just before the sunrise. There are a few ponds/lakes along the creek and at West Lake we spotted two Beavers cruising the placid waters. With the sun rising at our backs we walked upstream to a favorite location of ours. In… Read More
Colors
Noticing the hillsides around Eldorado Canyon turning red yesterday I decided to start the day with an early morning hike along the Homestead Trail. Located just East of the canyon the trail offers amazing views of the Flatirons and South Boulder Creek. The colors were just amazing and as the sun began to rise they started to pop even more.… Read More
Gold Canyon
Early this morning I drove into Eldorado Canyon to see how the Autumn colors were fairing. The colors were pretty good compared to the last few years and luckily the ever present wind in the canyon didn’t down all the leaves yet. Taking a few photos I decided to come back in the afternoon, when the sun would be illuminating the canyon interior. As I arrived in the evening the sun was making its final journey over the mountains. The afternoon lighting… Read More
White Ranch Hike
With the fall colors starting to peak around the Front Range I decided to go for a sunrise hike with my friend and her fiancee. Meeting at the East trailhead of White Ranch Open Space, located in Jefferson County, we soon began hiking as the sun started to rise. It’s been awhile since I’ve hiked around here and this time of year is really spectacular. Overall we hiked around 8 miles and gained/lost some 1600ft in elevation. Lots of people out on the trail today… Read More
First Light
Waking up early than normal I decided to head to Boulder to catch the first light of the day. I contemplated heading to Chautauqua Park but decided to try and make the sunrise at Settler’s Park. The park, which is located at the entrance of Boulder Canyon, showcases some amazing scenery and rock formations. I lucked out with the timing as I ascended the ridge right when the Sun was rising over the Eastern horizon.… Read More
Lunch Walk
In the warmer months of the year I usually take a walk in lieu of a lunch while at work. And with the sun shining brightly, today was no exception! The bright light illuminated all the Autumn colors alongside Boulder Creek and made for some wonderful photography.… Read More
Full Moon Setting
Having a photo-shoot later in the day, I lucked out to have my camera with me when I noticed the Full Moon setting above the Rocky Mountains. Knowing that going any closer to the mountains would result in less time to photograph, I decided to head to the East side of Standley Lake. As I arrived at the lake the winds were howling and any photography was definitely a challenge.… Read More
Snowy Divide
The high country this weekend was hit with the first snowstorm of the season. Things started to clear out yesterday but even this morning the Continental Divide was strikingly white against the early morning skies. The views this morning were taken along Highway 128, which in my estimation is one of the most beautiful drives along the Front Range.… Read More
Creek Light
Before heading into work I caught the sunrise along South Boulder Creek near the Mesa Trailhead. Thinking it wouldn’t be too cold this dawn I was surprised to find myself in a stiff cold wind. Taking photos for only a little bit of time I soon retreated to the warmth of my Jeep and out of the cold wind. It sure looks like the season of Autumn is finally upon us!… Read More
Fall Sunrise
After finally getting a decent night’s sleep I decided to try my luck and capture the sunrise this morning. As I headed out in the early morning dawn I noticed a few high flying clouds above. With the majority of the Eastern horizon clear I knew that it was shaping up to be a wonderful sunrise. Racing against the coming Sun, I soon arrived at Plainview Road. This area is definitely my favorite place to catch the first rays of… Read More
First of Autumn
Being extremely busy lately I haven’t had the time to take too many photos. But since today is the official first day of Autumn, I just had to get out and take some photos. Even though there were barely any clouds floating in the skies, the sharp light and Autumn grasses made for a truly wonderful morning. I have an extremely busy month ahead and I just hope to take some photos of the Autumn colors soon!… Read More
Lake Morning
Never been one to sleep outside I awoke multiple times during the cool night. Eventually waking up before the sunrise, my father and I grabbed our camera gear and headed to the point we visited yesterday evening. The calm morning breeze and colorful clouds added to the serenity of the lake below. What a great time with family and nature, hopefully we’ll do this more often!… Read More
Evening on the Lake
For the first time in many years we had finally a family camping trip. Joining me was my father, two brothers and one of my nieces. The trip was done on short notice so after not finding places near Denver we settled on camping at Lake Pueblo State Park. Located just west of downtown Pueblo, CO the lake offers quite a few campgrounds and wonderful scenery. I almost didn’t bring my camera but glad I did as the sunset was… Read More
Late Summer
Having been a few weeks since I’ve done any nature photography I decided it was time to wake up early and catch the sunrise. Often times when I’m in need of inspiration I go to Plainview road, as there is always something to shoot. On this occasion the sunrise was somewhat lacking but luckily the late Summer grasses and plants made up for it. It’s just amazing how peaceful it can be on the grasslands with nothing but the gentle wind and open… Read More
Evening Falls
A few hours after crossing the Colorado border we arrived at the state park only to find that the campground was booked solid. Seeing it was Monday I was quite surprised but we decided to check out the falls for a few hours anyway. For this late in the season the waterfalls were moving pretty good and the late afternoon light really made it special. As the sun began to set we left the park and thought about camping at… Read More
Bighorn Morning
A crisp morning greeted us as we checked out of the small motel in Jackson. After filling up my tank we left the town and started back towards Colorado. Driving through the Bridger-Teton National Forest, I noticed some faint movement in the tall grasses and realized that there were a few Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep grazing along the road. After finding a turnout I pulled a U-turn and stopped near them along the shoulder. They didn’t seem to mind… Read More
