Divide Columbines

Upon leaving Loveland Pass and looking at the time, my Father and I wanted to check out the Columbines on the West side of the Divide at the Eisenhower Tunnel. Any given year there are tons of Blue Columbines, the state flower of Colorado, located just behind the tunnel entrance. And this year was no different as one can clearly see below. When we …

Morning at the Pass

This morning my Father and I captured the sunrise at Pass Lake near Loveland Pass, CO. We originally planned on hiking up in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, Lake Isabelle to be exact, but decided to get a little bit more sleep and venture somewhere closer. Arriving at the lake just before sunrise we had some time to locate alpine flowers and do a little birdwatching. As …

The Loop

As we drove north along the Loop we neared Dunraven Pass and noticed quite a few people looking up the mountain. Being curious to what they were looking at, we stopped alongside the road and inquired to what was there. They informed us that up the hill a female Grizzly Bear was foraging on some vegetation. Light of Life

We officially made it to the end of the work week! And to celebrate it being Friday I woke up extra early to catch what I hoped to be a amazing sunrise. At first I didn’t think the clouds would give but luckily they did! When the sun finally made its appearance above the Eastern horizon I was driving along …

Plain Morning

Lately I haven’t been getting much sleep so today I decided to take advantage of that and catch the sunrise. After jumping out of bed I left the house around 5AM and headed to Plainview. You might ask why I always go to this area and to be perfectly honest its just amazing! Elk/Deer/Turkey/Coyotes/etc. are always present, wide open skies …

May Light

I received my new lens last night (Canon 16-35mm f2.8II) and just had to try it out this morning. After leaving the house at 5:30 I soon arrived at Plainview Rd. Although they skies were mostly sunny, the sunrise was still a treat for the eyes. As the sunrise subsided I switched to my macro lens and started looking for new growth of …

Spring Glimpse

I’ve been working quite a bit lately and hadn’t had the time to take new shots this week. So I decided today to take a little break and went out to the burn area along Plainview Rd. The flowers are starting to come out and just because its gloomy out, doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful!

Earth Day!

Seeing that today is Earth Day I decided to head to Plainview once again to take in the sunrise. While heading toward the open space I noticed that clouds were few and far between this morning. Luckily the flowers & elk made up for an otherwise standard sunrise.
