Dino Tracks

Continuing our walk along the canyon floor we soon arrived at the Dinosaur tracksite location. Along the north riverbank we noticed a few three towed Allosaurus footprints and marveled to think that millions of years ago a dinosaur stepped on the same piece of ground. According to the  ExploreSoutheastColorado website:

“150 millions years ago, this area was part of a large,

Garden Morning

Yesterday afternoon my Father and I decided to meet up early this morning and go out photographing. After picking up my father around 5:30 we headed towards Colorado Springs but were stopped when the highway was closed due to an accident. After a slight detour through Castle Rock we finally made it to the Garden of the Gods just as …

Roxborough

Having the day off for the extended holiday weekend, a friend and I decided to go for a hike in Roxborough State Park. The weather today was nothing less than amazing, especially considering it’s nearly Winter. As we arrived at the park there were numerous groups of deer alongside the road and to my amazement the park wasn’t too packed. …

First Light

Waking up early than normal I decided to head to Boulder to catch the first light of the day. I contemplated heading to Chautauqua Park but decided to try and make the sunrise at Settler’s Park. The park, which is located at the entrance of Boulder Canyon, showcases some amazing scenery and rock formations. I lucked out with the timing as I …

Mammoth Hot Springs

Entering the Mammoth Hot Springs area we decided to take a quick detour to the North entry gate so I could get a National Parks Pass. When we arrived earlier in the day the East entry station was empty so I couldn’t get a new National Parks Pass. I would highly recommend anyone that loves nature to get a pass as it allows entry …

Eldorado

Had another early morning and another amazing sunrise! Although its tough waking up so early, the rewards are always worth it! Once again I caught the sunrise in Eldorado Canyon alongside the roaring waters of South Boulder Creek. Hopefully I’ll get out and get some more photos tomorrow!

Red Rocks Afternoon

After working a half day today my parents and I decided to get out and go up to Red Rocks Park in Morrison, CO. I’ve been there quite a few times but usually to catch the sunrise. So I was rather pleased to get some decent shots in the mid-day light. Oh and I’m pretty sure that the snake I photographed …

Quick Paint Mines

Having the itch to get out today my friends and I ventured out to Paint Mines Interpretive Park just outside Calhan, CO. It was rather cold/chilly out but at least the sun shined brilliantly for most of the day. After wandering around the icy formations for a bit we grabbed some home cooking dining in Simla, CO. Overall not a bad …

Early Morning Roxborough

Late last night I remembered that one of my favorite State Parks, Roxborough, was to have its last early morning opening of the year today. So after waking up at 5:00am I left the house at 5:30 and arrived at the park entrance 45min later. While waiting for the park ranger I took a few photos of the dawn skies. During a 30sec …

Paint Morning

Late last night I decided to head to Calhan, CO for sunrise at Paint Mines Interpretive Park. The park has a lot of different types of rock formations, hoodoos (hat like formations), and grassland scenery. My Father joined me on this early morning trek and we left Arvada around 4:00AM. After about 100miles of driving we arrived in the small town …
