Clear Creek Rush

Early this morning my father and I went to the Open space between Wheat Ridge and Golden along the waters of Clear Creek. The trail starts off where I-70 and Clear Creek collide just outside of Golden. After walking West about a mile or so, one comes upon a series of beautiful rapids/falls.…

Rifle Falls Autumn

About a month ago my girlfriend and I decided to take a few days off and do a mini road trip this Autumn. And so today, with our schedules finally freed up, we embarked on our first trip together as a couple. Our plan was to drive towards the San Juan’s Mountains of Southern Colorado and spend a few days down there. With the …

Chicago Creeks

After leaving Mount Evans, my Father and I parked alongside Squaw Pass road and checked out the waters of Chicago Creek. The creek was running pretty full and offered plenty of opportunities to grab long exposure photos. While returning to the Jeep I spotted a deeply carved heart on the side of a pine tree. Which reminded me of just how …

First Snow

The first major snowstorm of the season hit late last night and early today. Having the urge to capture the fresh snow I brought along my camera gear today with the hopes of taking some photos. With a rather light workload today I decided to leave work early and head down towards Eldorado Canyon State Park. As I arrived at the …

Fleeting Warmth

After spending the majority of this weekend inside editing photos, I was happy today to have time with my Father and go photographing. We decided to visit the open space along Clear Creek in Wheat Ridge, CO and arrived just before the sunrise. There are a few ponds/lakes along the creek and at West Lake we spotted two Beavers cruising …

Colors

Noticing the hillsides around Eldorado Canyon turning red yesterday I decided to start the day with an early morning hike along the Homestead Trail. Located just East of the canyon the trail offers amazing views of the Flatirons and South Boulder Creek. The colors were just amazing and as the sun began to rise they started to pop even more.

Gold Canyon

Early this morning I drove into Eldorado Canyon to see how the Autumn colors were fairing. The colors were pretty good compared to the last few years and luckily the ever present wind in the canyon didn’t down all the leaves yet. Taking a few photos I decided to come back in the afternoon, when the sun would be illuminating …

Creek Light

Before heading into work I caught the sunrise along South Boulder Creek near the Mesa Trailhead. Thinking it wouldn’t be too cold this dawn I was surprised to find myself in a stiff cold wind. Taking photos for only a little bit of time I soon retreated to the warmth of my Jeep and out of the cold wind. It sure looks like the season of Autumn …

Evening Storms

After leaving the stormy Midway Geyser area we proceeded to the famous Old Faithful Geyser. Upon arriving we noticed a large crowd gathered around the geyser, signaling the eminent explosion of scalding hot water. As we waited to see Old Faithful be faithful the storm we just left found us again. With rain and crazy clouds surrounding Old Faithful the geyser began to erupt …

Waterfalls

One of the great things about Yellowstone is the fact that there are so many amazing waterfalls along the Loop. Each one has its unique characteristics and none of them disappoint. The first waterfall we stopped at was the beautiful Rustic Falls (47ft). It used to be listed on the park map but for some reason it no longer marked. …
