Guadalupe and Back to Colorado!

Guadalupe and Back to Colorado!

After not getting much sleep I left the motel at 5:20am and decided to try my luck for sunrise in Texas. I drove around 55miles to the entrance of Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Apparently this area is the highest elevation in the state of Texas and is seldom visited compared to other national parks. After walking around the Frijole Ranch I made my way back to Carlsbad, NM to meet up with my family. Once we completed breakfast we parted ways and I was off to Colorado. On the drive up I noticed a sign for Fort Sumner and Billy the Kids grave. Seeing that it was only a slight detour I decided to visit that area. After seeing the town and gravesite I headed back north. Realizing that I would probably be driving by Fort Union when my family was there, I went for my second visit to the fort. We left shortly after that and I was sure glad to be heading home. I was starting to come down with a cold and didn’t feel all that well. Overall it was a good trip with beautiful scenery, great towns and people.
